AAPL Reaches The Trading Toy Stage

Every so often a particular market or stock captivates traders due to the velocity, volatility, and volume it contains. Back when I began trading (2003-2004) it was $TASR, between 2005 and 2007 $GOOG captured traders’ attention on a regular basis, during spring 2011 silver ($SLV) had more share volume than $SPY for a couple of days – now we have $AAPL:


Volume and volatility create action, excitement, and opportunity. However, the action we are currently witnessing in AAPL is not healthy. It is indicative of the fact that AAPL has reached the “trading toy stage” which only ends one way – think about the three examples mentioned above, what do they all have in common?
